Taking my first ride in a truck, a big prime mover, I take a quick look at what changed my view about the vehicles that are omnipresent on our roads.
As someone who writes about the industry, I’m familiar with trucks and have seen many on the road. They’re huge, loud and, in my opinion, somewhat overwhelming. Being a feminine person, I never imagined myself riding in one. But when the opportunity came, I took it and it turned out to be more fun than I expected.
Getting in was a climb. Once seated, the view was amazing. The truck was quiet and comfortable, much smoother than I thought it would be. I noticed how everything inside was designed to help the driver stay focused and at ease.
Sitting up high made the road feel quiet. Everything looked clearer and less crowded from up there. Watching towns and cars pass by felt peaceful.
During the ride, my focus shifted from the truck to the drivers. They spend long hours alone, staying sharp and steady. That takes quiet strength.
I had learned about transport before, but this made me see it differently. Trucks are not just machines. They are part of real lives moving through real roads.
